The Kiwanis Duck Derby is coming to Oak Island in 2026!

The Kiwanis Club of Southport-Oak Island will release 2,000 rubber ducks into the rapids at Oak Island Jungle Golf on Wednesday, Aug. 19, where they'll race to see which captures the $500 first prize. The second-place duck will pay out $250, and the third-place duck will be worth $100.

But the real winners will be the children of southern Brunswick County, as proceeds will fund Kiwanis programs that support area youth.

A 3:30 p.m. splashdown is scheduled for this family-friendly event. 

​To get in the race, adopt a flock of 5 ducks for $20 or single ducks for $5 each.  Don't delay! They're going fast!! 

 

The easiest way to adopt is to open the camera on your cell phone, scan the QR code on this page, wait for the PayPal web address to pop up at the bottom of the screen, and touch the text. You'll be directed to a payment page where you'll be able to select the number of ducks you want to adopt. Duck adoption tickets can also be purchased from any Kiwanis member.

Those who adopt ducks online will receive their duck numbers via email.
