Dosher Hospital CEO Lynda Stanley
Named Lastest Service Award Recipient

Lynda Stanley, President and CEO of Dosher Memorial Hospital, is the latest
recipient of the Kiwanis Award for Excellence in Community Service as selected
by the Kiwanis Club of Southport-Oak Island.
“Ms. Stanley is a well-regarded leader and fierce advocate for local access to high-
quality healthcare that emphasizes prevention as well as treatment for patients of
all ages,” said Southport-Oak Island Kiwanis President Jeff Mount. “Under her
guidance, Dosher Memorial Hospital and their community partners work diligently to reduce barriers to care and to provide resources, treatment, and education to individuals and families.”
Dosher, a community-supported and locally governed critical access hospital, also operates a network of medical and surgical services, including primary care clinics, a walk-in clinic, a general surgery practice, and a nationally recognized Wound Care Center, among other services. Hospital services include a 24-hour Emergency Department and a 25-bed inpatient care unit.
In addition to meeting the medical needs of the area, Dosher conducts many community outreach initiatives, several of which impact area youth. The #GiveHealthy food collection drive collects thousands of pounds of donations each year which are distributed to local food pantries. The annual Operation School Supplies donation drive accepts donated items for the benefit of children served by Communities In Schools of Brunswick County. Dosher’s Scholarship Committee selects local students to receive healthcare education grants.
In a county where, according to 2021 data from NC Child, more than 41% of children live in poor or low-income homes, initiatives like these greatly support the Kiwanis goal of helping young people of our communities overcome the challenges they face so they can look forward to a brighter future.
Stanley, who served for 28 years as Dosher Memorial Hospital’s chief operating officer prior to being named CEO, played a key role in founding the Brunswick Wellness Coalition and the Dosher Hospital Foundation. She also has spearheaded Dosher’s current 7-year construction and renovation efforts designed to provide additional space, utilize the latest technologies, and improve the quality of healthcare throughout the hospital system.
“I am grateful to Kiwanis for this recognition and deeply appreciate the organization’s commitment to advocating for the health and welfare of Brunswick County children,” Stanley said. “I can speak from experience on the impact Kiwanis can have on youth as I was the recipient of a Kiwanis scholarship upon my high school graduation. The support helped me pursue the education that has lead me to where I am today.”
Dosher has 350 employees, 100 medical staff members and 150 volunteers. For more detailed information, visit Dosher.org.
